In this class, participants will learn the basics of weaving functional baskets from flat material. Together, we will make a complete basket from rattan reed, and cover everything necessary to start designing and making baskets of your own. Specifically, we will make a so-called "cathead" style basket, a durable and attractive basket style that serves as a great overview of various techniques used in many forms of basketry.
All tools and materials will be provided by the instructor and participants will leave with extra material to start putting what we learn to use.
