Join us for a natural dye workshop where you will learn the basics of Shibori, an ancient Japanese dyeing technique that uses folding and tying to create patterns.
This class will cover a selection of techniques, including Kanoko (folding and tying), Kumo (tying fabric around objects), Itajime (woodblock resist), and Arashi (pole wrapping). We will be running two dye baths of flowers harvested from Sew Valley’s plot in the West End Community Garden.
Class Participants will go home with one 17” silk bandana, and one 22” cotton bandana, as well as a handout detailing the Shibori and natural dye techniques taught in the class.
